John Wayne: An American Legend

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of John Wayne's death. What a fantastic actor he was. I have seen countless John Wayne movies, most of them worth watching over and over. True Grit, Red River, The Searchers, Stagecoach, McClintock, Rio Bravo, The Shootist, The Green Berets, Sands Of Iwo Jima - timeless classics.

Many of the characters John Wayne portrayed had the qualities of what made this nation great. Self-reliance, honesty, integrity, courage, determination, discerning what was right and doing it.

Beyond his enormous on-screen presence, John Wayne was a true American patriot. He loved America and eschewed anyone who talked bad about her or tried to take her off of the course established by our Founding Fathers.

Here are a couple of quotes from Wayne that show his conservative position on issues:

Sure I wave the American flag. Do you know a better flag to wave? Sure I love my country with all her faults. I'm not ashamed of that, never have been, never will be. I was proud when President Nixon ordered the mining of Haiphong Harbor, which we should have done long ago, because I think we're helping a brave little country defend herself against Communist invasion. When asked how blacks could address the inequities of the past, Wayne replied:

By going to school. I don't know why people insist that blacks have been forbidden to go to school. They were allowed in public schools wherever I've been. I think any black man who can compete with a white can get a better break than a white man. I wish they'd tell me where in the world they have it better than right here in America. (1)
We all owe John Wayne a great debt because to this day he is still influencing the ideals of the American people through his movies.

John Wayne was a typical Amerikwan asshole with no real merit. All he did was pretend to be a real man. This was shown by his behavior when he blocked the stage door when Audie Murphy (a real hero) was trying to get through it, because Wayne was such a big tough guy, and he liked picking on little guys. A big guy who had an allergy and couldn't serve in WW2. Boo hoo hoo, I have the sniffles. Sound familiar like maybe the half truther Rush Limbaugh?

Why don't you dumbass kwanservatives stop worshipping false heroes, like Bush, and Hannity and professional sports apes and start acting like real men? And don't worry fratboy, I'm more to the right than you are.

Don't you believe in what you say with enough conviction to sign your post?

I broke my own rule here about posting profanity for the sole purpose of exposing you as a lefty troll, even though you say you are far right.

I could find no information about John Wayne doing anything disrespectful toward Audie Murphy. I was unable to find any information about John Wayne skipping military service due to an allergy. John Wayne was given 2-A status at the behest of his studio (not him) for the good of America. John Wayne's military films were extremely important to the morale and resolve of the American people.

I also noticed that while you were attacking conservatives and saying you were far right, you didn't list the names of any conservatives we should look up to.

You sound like the lefty troll you are. Crawl back under your lefty bridge and wait for your billy goat buddies to cross.

John Wayne was a mediocre actor who had no versatility at all. He was always the same. But because he acted in films directed by great directors and had certain charisma, he's been labeled as American icon, a true American.

John Wayne was a simpleminded person. He thought that the United States was a happy place to live in; that there have been no racism, no genocide, no caste ridden way of life,no poverty caused by extreme capitalism, no imperialism; or that all those things were being emphasized by leftist propaganda.

Maybe John Wayne is a True American. A Man who fears everything that isn't bred in he's own ranch. Who is ready to destroy and mutilate for he's own agenda, with no respect for other thoughts than his own. And ready to take something that is not his own.

A true American? No, fortunately no. But an icon of everything that is wrong in America.

Thank you for confirming the truth about John Wayne. He was a true American and that is why you people hate him. You are jealous because America is the greatest country in history. Perfect? No.

Poverty caused by extreme capitalism? Are you Karl Marx? I thought you were dead. Hundreds of millions of people enjoy a life better than 90 percent of people on Earth because of this free-market, capitalist nation.

No, John Wayne didn't embrace every clown who tried to force his way of life on everyone else. That's what the feminized liberals so and look where it has gotten most of the countries in Europe. They are losing their identity and their soul. I will do everything within my power to stop that from happening in America.

Greatest country in history? Yes, sure, if greatness is measured in military and economic hegemony after WW2. USA has acquired the role of the imperialist from UK and has legitimated its actions regardless of international laws and opposition from UN, which USA deeply despises and ignores.

Of course USA is not the great satan as islamistic worldview suggests. Despite all its flaws the pure idea of USA is great in my opinion, although its realisation has always been only a vague shadow of its true potential.

It is often argued that capitalism has brought unforeseen wealth to nations. This might seem to be the truth if we study only demographic material. However this material does not reveal realistically how this wealth has been acquired or how it is divided between people. Large portions of western wealth has been gathered through large scale exploitation of natural resources and slavery of colonies aroud the globe. This wellfare is a privilege of a minority and it seems that this free capitalism divides people more and more as the demand of continuous growth manifests itself.

Communism has been seen as utopia that cannot be realised. I agree. However this is the case with capitalism as well. Capitalism will consume itself because of lack of altruism in mankind and the fact that western culture has embraced the idea of hedonism and amoralistic pluralism. Yes, western culture is going to face degradation as it eventually loses its values, on which it is based.
This is the case with American and European societies, which are actually variations of the same idea.

This trend is accelerated when western socities try to convince other societies to turn into capitalism and postmodernism with aggression. This increases entropy as these non-western societies are not willing to adopt western lifestyle, which they see as amoral, hipocratic and filthy.

At the moment USA is the principal aggressor.

Truly great Americans in my opinion include:

Paul Robeson, John Steinbeck, Preston Sturgess, John Ford, Abraham Polonsky, Martin Luther King, jr., Daniel Ellsberg, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn. To name a few.

HTH, I definitely agree with you on Preston Sturges and John Ford. But Noam Chomsky is the worst kind of idiot there is.
