Of The People, By The People, For The People?

The House passed the magnitudinous pork-filled bailout bill today 263-171. I feel like taking a shower.

This is the government's answer for every problem. Spend money. Not theirs, mind you. But ours.

We have lost our country. It is no longer a "government of the people, by the people, for the people." It has become a"government of the people who run it, by the people who run it, for the people who run it."

If we want to take it back it will require putting aside political parties, age, gender, race, income, and all those other things that divide us into little groups. The government uses those divisions against us to retain power.

I'm beginning to understand how the colonials felt prior to the Declaration of Independence. Now I'm not advocating a physical revolution with weapons against the government. We have something more powerful than weapons and that is the right to vote.

The question is, will we realize the severity of the situation and join together to overthrow the corrupt politicians in Washington? Or will we sit idly while the government gains more and more power over us?
