North Korea Conducts Nuclear Test

From all reports it appears that North Korea has defied international warnings and has conducted an underground nuclear test. Seismic activity in the 4.0 range on the Richter scale was detected on sensors near NoKo at the same time the test was supposedly conducted.

Some reports have stated that the blast was not as large as NoKo had hoped for.

This brazen act will not help NoKo's position in the world. Also, it may turn up the heat from groups opposed to Kim Jong-il. The NoKo people are living in terrible conditions and an overthrow of the government is a possibility.

Expect the UN to do very little this week, at least not anything significant regarding this matter. However, expect the Bush administration to take a very tough stance against NoKo and call for immediate action.
