Chris Christie Rocks Again!!

The Democrat-controlled New Jersey legislature is very fond of raising taxes. So much so they have 115 tax increases over the past 8 years.

That was fine when Jon Corzine was in charge. But there's a new sheriff in town.

Gov. Chris Christie took over a state that was in serious financial trouble, thanks to years of Democrat spending. Christie is a no-nonsense, all common sense conservative. He is plainspoken and has made it known that he intends to reign in out-of-control spending.

Someone should have explained that to the New Jersey legislature in very simple, remedial terms. They passed A-10, called the "millionaire tax," which would raise taxes on successful businesses and individuals. Typical liberal wealth redistribution.

When A-10 arrived on Gov. Christie's desk, not only did he veto it, he sent a message back to the legislature saying he would not repeat the failed, irresponsible, unsustainable fiscal policies of the past.

Bravo Gov. Christie! Keep it up and you might see the White House from the Oval Office some day.

Old West Spirit Lives In Arizona

It is said that everything is bigger in Texas but in Arizona, the cojones are getting bigger. (No offense to my friends in Texas. You guys are awesome but Arizona is just kicking butt and taking names right now.)

Names like Governor Jan Brewer, Senator Russell Pearce, and Sheriff Joe Arpaio have become household names for simply doing their jobs and standing up for the rights of their citizens. This has meant flying in the face of liberal political correctness. The City of Los Angeles even voted to boycott Arizona by cancelling contracts and travel.

You can add the name Gary Pierce to that list. Pierce is the commissioner of the Arizona Corporations Commission which regulates the state's utilities. It seems that utilities in Arizona generate about 25 percent of the electricity used in the city of Los Angeles.

Commissioner Pierce sent a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Here is an excerpt:

If an economic boycott is truly what you desire, I will be happy to encourage Arizona utilities to renegotiate your power agreements so Los Angeles no longer receives any power from Arizona-based generation. I am confident that Arizona’s utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands. If, however, you find that the City Council lacks the strength of its convictions to turn off the lights in Los Angeles and boycott Arizona power, please reconsider the wisdom of attempting to harm Arizona’s economy. People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A statewide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill.

Election 2010: Incumbents, Duck And Cover [UPDATED]

I try not to put much stock in polls but I am seeing a pretty clear trend in them this election cycle. Moderate Republican and Democrat incumbents are not fairing well at all. This explains why so many Democrats have bailed out. Better to go out quietly than to be thrown out.

A CBS/NYT poll showed that only 8 percent (that's not a typo, it says 8) of adults would reelect incumbent politicians. That is the lowest rating since the poll began in 1992. 81 percent would say "hasta la vista" to their elected officials. The 3 percent margin of error is irrelevant.

In Pennsylvania, 53 percent of Pennsylvanians and 66 percent of Republican Pennsylvanians want Sen. Arlen Specter replaced. Specter jumped from the Republican party to the Democrat party after the 2008 election. Rasmussen has Toomey up by 12 points over Specter. Some people say Toomey is "too conservative" for the liberal Northeast. We'll see.

In Kentucky, Rand Paul (son of Ron Paul) has a 20-point lead over the moderate Republican incumbent, Trey Grayson.

In Utah, Sen. Bob Bennett was not renominated by the Republican Convention due to his support of the TARP bill and for being moderate.

In Florida, Gov. Charlie Crist had to ditch his GOP campaign for U.S. Senate to run as an independent because he saw the writing on the wall. Marco Rubio, the more conservative candidate, was all but assured a victory in the primary.

In Arkansas, Sen. Blanche Lincoln, who voted for Obamacare, is on her way out. Against EVERY GOP candidate running (there are six), she loses.

This is going to be an interesting election. Don't count the Dems out though. They will put out every nasty trick they can dredge up to try to keep their majorities.

UPDATES:

Rand Paul, considered an ultra-conservative, defeated his moderate Republican opponent.

Specter is gone. Defeated in the Democratic primary.

Lincoln is in a runoff with ultra-liberal Bill Halter. This one is going to be very interesting. In either case, the winner loses to Republican John Boozman according to a recent Rasmussen poll.

Arizona's Right To Sovereignty

Federal Government Border Security = Epic Fail

One of the few responsibilities given to the federal government is protection and defense. That includes securing our borders at which they are failing miserably.

Arizona (and every other state) has a right to protect itself and govern itself as it sees fit. The federal government has very limited authority within the state of Arizona.

What needs to happen now is other states need to pass their own versions of Arizona SB1070. Let California boycott all of those states. Look, California is in a huge mess. They may get to the point where they aren't paying their bills anyway.

The illegal immigration problem has gotten way out of control and it is not going to be fixed in a day. But Arizona has taken the first step and we must join with them to take the second step.

Charlie has firmly ensconced himself among the greatest wafflers of our time, i.e., John Kerry. In just the past few weeks, Charlie has flip-flopped on his promise not to run as an independent, on his returning of campaign donations after the flip-flop, and it appears he may flip-flop on an offshore drilling ban.

I say, good riddance. All political parties need a good bowel movement every now and then to get rid of the, uh, waste.

The CBO now says the Obamacare bill will cost $115 billion more than originally projected. Wait. Look at the enormous surprise on my face.

This is supposedly due to administrative costs for the federal bureaucracy that will be created by this bill. Did they not know this before? I'll cut the CBO some slack. They can only report based on what they are given and I'm sure the liberal snakes who crafted this piece of junk intentionally left this out so they couldn't include it.

Since last Saturday's attempted bombing of Times Square in New York, the left has salivated with the completely fabricated thought that the perpetrator might have been a Tea Partier. With absolutely ZERO evidence to corroborate their fantasies, some were so bold as to make the accusation. Take Michael Bloomberg, for instance. What a moron! His speculation was completely without one molecule of evidence. Bloomberg said the bomber may have been:

Hey Mikey! It also could have been your mother. I have as much evidence to support that as you do your ridiculous, biased, hateful nonsense.

Contessa Brewer on MSNBC was "frustrated" because the would-be bomber was a Muslim.

I get frustrated and there was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country.

Uh, Contessa. What were you hoping? That it would be a racist, homophobic, anti-Obama, Tea Partier? They're all violent anyway, right?

Back in 2009, Newsweek editor Evan Thomas said regarding another Islamic terrorist:

Our second RSCCC Award goes to Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona. Finally, someone has the fortitude to stand up to Obama and the liberal Democrats in Congress. We are sick and tired of the federal government shoving their agenda down our throats. We are sovereign states and we will not be force-fed and micro-managed by Washington. You take care of your business and we'll take care of ours.

We don't need more laws in the country. We just need to enforce the ones we have already. Arizona's "new" immigration law is simply enforcing existing federal law. Don't believe me?

This is not racist and does not promote racial profiling. It is not like Nazi Germany. A police officer can only request proof of citizenship or work status with reasonable cause. This is not something new. Police officers deal with this every day. The hysterics from the left are nonsense and laughable.

The First RSCCC Award Goes To...

Since the only RSC award available has been the RSCCM (Red State Conservative Certified Moron Award created in honor of Jimmy Carter), I have decided to add another award. This new award will be called the RSCCC Award (Red State Conservative Certified Conservative Award) and has been created in honor of Ronald Reagan.

The RSCCC Award will be given to recipients who demonstrate conservative principles in government or everyday life. The Gold RSCCC Award will be the highest given to those who take conservative positions in the face of strong liberal or moderate opposition.

The first Gold RSCCC Award goes to Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey. Governor Christie has been exemplifying conservative principles since he took office. His budget cutting has drawn the ire of many liberals but Governor Christie has stood strong.

Thank you Governor Christie for your leadership. There will be a vacancy in the White House in 2012. We would like you to keep that in mind.

RSCCM Award: Antonio Tajani

It has been a long time since I have given out an RSCCM Award but Antonio Tajani, the European Union's Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, is certainly deserving.

Commissioner Tajani seems to think that vacationing is now a human right. Because it is a right, everyone should get to do it even if they can't afford it. I think you're smart enough to figure out who will be paying for those vacations.

"Travelling for tourism today is a right. The way we spend our holidays is a formidable indicator of our quality of life," Mr. Tajani told a group of ministers at The European Tourism Stakeholders Conference in Madrid on April 15.

There is at least one sane person still left in Europe.

It's Official: Prostitution Passes Healthcare Bill

If you haven't heard, the House passed the Obamacare bill 219-212 today. Bart Stupak, the Democrat who stood strong on his pro-life beliefs sold his soul to the devil for three airports which swung the vote of 8 or 9 pro-life Democrats from 'No' to 'Yes'. So much for principles.

This isn't over yet. This will have its day in the courts. With an estimated 38 states preparing lawsuits against the healthcare bill, we may see an effort by the states to repeal the bill. It only takes 2/3 of the states to do that.

So just relax a little and let's see how this plays out over the next few weeks. It isn't law yet.

Who Was The Stimulus Supposed To Help?

I was watching Hannity tonight and he gave some shocking numbers I had not heard. Unemployment among government workers is three percent. In the construction industry it is almost 25 percent.

During the campaign, Obama said the stimulus package was going to give us "shovel-ready" jobs.

We need shovels alright. We need them to shovel all of the Obama BS we've heard since the campaign started. He chided John McCain at the healthcare summit saying that the campaign was over. I don't think it is over for Obama.

I'm So Glad I Lost My Job Today

The American economy is in full recovery. Times are good. So good that only 36,000 people lost their jobs today. So says Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. I'm sure every one of those 36,000 people are excited about losing their job.

The burden falls upon his fellow House Republicans. Republicans must answer: Do they want an ethically unfit person to be their majority leader or do they want to remove the ethical cloud that hangs over the Capitol?

Now that Charlie Rangel, the chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, has some serious ethics charges against him, what does Nancy Pelosi have to say?

But the fact is, is that what Mr. Rangel has been admonished for is not good. It was a violation of the rules of the House. It was not a–something that jeopardized our country in any way.

So that is the new standard for ethics violations? It's only bad if the country is put in jeopardy?

John Murtha Dead At 77

This is my first endorsement of the 2010 campaign. The U.S. Senate race in Arkansas is heating up and Blanche Lincoln is primed for getting burned.

There are several Republican challengers, many with the qualifications necessary to represent Arkansas well in Washington. But a closer examination of the histories and positions brings one candidate to the forefront.

Arkansas State Senator Jim Holt is a true conservative. He ran for U.S. Senate against Blanche Lincoln in 2004 when she was not vulnerable and garnered 44 percent of the vote. Holt was an outspoken critic of Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee the issue of providing benefits to illegal immigration. Holt has opposed tax increases and minimum wage increases in Arkansas.

For these reasons, RSC endorses Jim Holt for the U.S. Senate Republican primary election.

Massachusetts: Blue To Brown To Red

My skepticism was in control the past few days. I just could not believe Massachusetts would actually put a Republican in ANY Senate seat, much less "Ted Kennedy's seat." I disagree with Republicans who say it was not Ted Kennedy's seat. He bought and paid for it so that makes it his.

I'll be honest. I don't know much about Scott Brown. I hope he turns out to be at least a little conservative. I'm so tired of moderates, RINOs, John McCains, Lindsey Graham's, etc. It is premature and unfair to put the fate of America on the shoulders of this rookie. Time will tell whether Scott Brown will be a reformer.

Something I found deliciously ironic about this election. Ted Kennedy pushed hard for universal health care. He may be the one person who inadvertently killed the health care bill by leaving his Senate seat vacant. No, I'm not rejoicing over Ted Kennedy's death. I'm just pointing out the irony.

I used to like Pat Robertson but over the past few years I think he has slowly began creeping into senility. Do I think God hit Haiti with the earthquake as vengeance for all of the voodoo that takes place there? No.

On the other side we have Danny Glover. But his problem isn't senility. It's just plain stupidity. He's never been too bright, especially when it comes to politics and science.

Glover is blaming the earthquake on the failure of the climate summit in Copenhagen. He basically said the Earth is sending us a message that we better do something about global warming. That's great considering that the Northern hemisphere is freezing it's butt off.

I have been hearing stupid comments from Rachel Maddow over the past year or so and I am really wondering how she can have a television show that people watch. I know, there aren't many who watch but ANY viewers just baffles me.

She has no concept of the truth. She is like a rookie politician that just blurts out whatever is expedient at the moment. Here are a couple of recent examples.

...there are real fights to have over health reform But what did we do? We followed the Republicans‘ lead and spent all that time talking about death panels—which is made up.

...on climate change. There are a lot of interesting ways to talk about the right way to respond to that, but instead, it‘s Climate-gate, it‘s all made up...I don‘t want to be fighting with people who refuse to acknowledge reality.

Huh huh. Ha ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Liar, Liar; Obama Renegs

For those of us who receive a weekly (bi-weekly, monthly, etc.) paycheck, you may notice a change this month. Unless you got a raise, the amount of your paycheck may be less.

Why, you may ask? It's a little gift from Barack Obama and the Democrats. Your federal withholding tax increased on January 1.

This gift of a tax increase is from the same Barack Obama who repeatedly promised during the campaign that anyone making $250,000 a year or less would not have their taxes increased.

Barack Obama is all about change but he lies just like most other politicians.

Big Hollywood just celebrated their 1st Anniversary. I get their feed. I visit regularly. I can't possibly give proper 'thanks' to Andrew Breitbart and John Nolte at Big Hollywood. They have provided a venue for voices that aren't suffering from Obama euphoria. Plus, John Nolte's analysis of films from yesteryear is fantastic.

I also want to thank the conservative voices in Hollywood who aren't afraid to speak out like Jon Voight, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stein, Gary Sinise, Adam Baldwin, Robert Davi, Orson Bean, Angie Harmon, Victoria Jackson, and many more. Never feel like you are getting lost in the liberal noise of Hollywood. We hear you and we are with you.

My Favorite Commenter, aka Keep Your Mouth Shut

The Red State Conservative blog has been in existence for almost 3-and-a-half years. During that time many conservatives, liberals, and independents have commented. However, there is one particular commenter I would like to recognize.

Who could deserve such recognition? One who has logged more comments than any other person. One who takes full advantage of the First Amendment. So much so that some comments have been rejected due to not following the posting guidelines.

I am sure this person needs no introduction because you have all seen the name many times. Yes, it is my good friend, Anonymous.

I realize everyone has their own set of rules to live by and I have mine. I even have a set of rules regarding political commentary.

Rule #1 - If it is relevant, heartfelt, and truthful, then you should have no issues with signing your name. If you won't sign your posts or comments, you really don't believe what you are saying. Advice: Believe what you say, sign your posts, or keep your mouth shut.
Rule #2 - Control the immaturity. If you can't address the issue because all you can do is launch personal attacks and profanity, keep your mouth shut.
Rule #3 - Fact check. When you repeat something you've heard without fact checking, you become as big of a moron as Dan Rather and 80 percent of the dorks on CNN. If you don't fact check, it's better to keep your mouth shut.
Rule #4 - Be quick to admit when you make a mistake. And be sincere. You'll be looked at as a bigger person if you admit it when you screw up. If you can't say "I was wrong," you should keep your mouth shut.

Global Warming: Nothing But Lies

It has been my stated opinion for years that man-made global warming is a farce and nothing more than a vehicle for the government to seize more power. Now emails have surfaced that lend credence to my position.

I am not a scientist. I am not a climatologist. I am not a meteorologist. However, I do have logical, analytical thought processes. Even without them, just a handful of common sense would tell you that man's activities on this Earth have an insignificant impact on the atmosphere.

That is a key. Man is insignificant in comparison to the Earth.

But I have to give him credit for his response to David Letterman bringing up the senile Jimmy Carter's cry of racism against people who oppose Obama's policies. Movie Review: Transformers ROTF

I am a sucker for a good action movie. Add technology that surpasses anything we have seen on this planet and I'm there.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen has to be reviewed from two viewpoints. First, from the action movie sucker viewpoint and second, from a father's point of view.

The action in this movie was incredible. New, bigger Transformers, more military involvement. If you like action you will not be disappointed. Shia LaBeouf is very good in this movie as is John Turturro. Ramon Rodriguez was pretty funny as Leo, the unsuspecting roommate of Shia LeBeouf's character.

From a father's point of view, this movie was way over the top on crude language and unnecessary sexual imagery. To get an idea of the language, take the first Transformers movie and multiply that times 10.

One evening during this month ABC will air their newscast from the White House Blue Room to advocate Obama's universal health care plan with no one scheduled who opposes it. John Wayne: An American Legend

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of John Wayne's death. What a fantastic actor he was. I have seen countless John Wayne movies, most of them worth watching over and over. True Grit, Red River, The Searchers, Stagecoach, McClintock, Rio Bravo, The Shootist, The Green Berets, Sands Of Iwo Jima - timeless classics.

Many of the characters John Wayne portrayed had the qualities of what made this nation great. Self-reliance, honesty, integrity, courage, determination, discerning what was right and doing it.

Beyond his enormous on-screen presence, John Wayne was a true American patriot. He loved America and eschewed anyone who talked bad about her or tried to take her off of the course established by our Founding Fathers.

Obama: America's Greatest Mistake

This is an open letter to all Americans, liberal or conservative, rich or poor, black or white, male or female, young or old, Christian or agnostic. If you fall into any of those categories, this letter is for you.

Approximately 230 years ago, a wise and brave group of men determined that freedom was a God-given right and that the freedom of the colonists was being infringed upon by the government. They grew tired of the government taxing them. They grew tired of the government making laws without regard to them or even listening to them.

After realizing the government would never listen, the colonists decided it was time to disengage themselves from the rule of said government and create their own government based on individual rights and freedom. Freedom to control your own destiny. Freedom to worship in the way you wanted. The right to be heard. The right to be properly represented in the government.

Now the ruling government was none too happy about this because their power was threatened. They tried to crush the opposition but the opposition had grown too large and too strong. Despite that, the key to the colonials victory was freedom. Real men will fight for freedom to the death. There is an innate desire within the human soul to be free. Freedom from oppression. Freedom to think. Freedom to speak. Freedom to succeed.

Here we are some 230 years later and things look similar to those colonial days. The government is overtaxing us. They do not listen to the people. They make laws without regard of the people. They spend money to the detriment of our descendants. They care only about themselves and their lust for power.

In the Declaration of Independence, our Founding Fathers clearly spelled the right of the people to oppose and even abolish the government if the government was being destructive in its actions.

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Barack Obama's election is indeed historic. It is the greatest mistake in our history. No president has rushed so quickly to destroy this nation. Obama is dismantling capitalism, free markets, private property, and individual freedom. We are becoming the enemy we hated 25 years ago.

If we, the people, cannot regain control of our government, we will be faced with two options.

Option 1 is to allow this country to fall into socialism at the hands of Barack Obama and his minions. To do this is disrespectful of every man, woman, and child who lost their lives in the battles for freedom that have taken place over the past 230 years.

Option 2 is to follow the lead of our forefathers who knew what was right and gave themselves to the cause of freedom. We are still a strong people. We are still a brave people. We are still the creators of our own destiny. We are still a free people.

If we do nothing, all of those things will be lost. Not just for us, but for our children and our grandchildren.

DO SOMETHING!!

Get the attention of your government representatives. Tell them what you want them to do and make sure they know you will not vote for any candidate who supports more taxes and more government control. They work for you, not vice versa.

If you have what it takes, run for office. Don't be afraid. The people who hold those positions are not any smarter than you are. A trained monkey can take money out of your pocket and stick it in his pocket. It takes someone with conviction and integrity to stand up for what is right.

Two American soldiers were killed in Little Rock, Arkansas, today at a military recruiting center. A witness said a man driving a black sport pickup pulled up to the recruiting center where the two soldiers were standing outside. The man fired six to seven shots striking both soldiers then sped away. One soldier was killed and the other was seriously injured.

This can only be attributed to one thing - hatred of the American military spewed by venomous snakes like Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and Bill Maher. It is their constant bashing of Bush and the War On Terror that drives people like this killer to target and attack our heroic soldiers. They and their kind should be banned from the airwaves.

For you liberals who are fuming at me because you don't understand sarcasm, lighten up. This is nothing more than a sarcastic enlightenment for you hateful liberals who blame everything on Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck.

Tiller: A Murderer Murdered

The murder of George Tiller was just plain wrong. Yes, George Tiller was a vile man who had no regard for human life. This does not give anyone a vigilante pass to kill him. Barack Obama is expected to nominate his first Supreme Court Justice today and insiders say the nominee will be Sonia Sotomayor. Sotomayor is not a centrist nor a moderate. She is a full-bore liberal who may believe that the federal bench has the responsibility and authority to make laws.

Republicans are already running from a filibuster because she is Hispanic to avoid alienating the rapidly growing Hispanic population. To the GOP: What will it take for you to have some convictions and integrity that exceed your lust for power? Stand up for what you believe in, do what is right and if you aren't re-elected, so be it.

One theory that has been lofted is to let Obama and the liberals run wild passing every socialist piece of legislation they can get through and filling the federal benches with their kind. Then, in 2010 and 2012, after Americans have seen the truth, conservatism will rise once again. However, letting these kamikaze pilots fly this country unimpeded could end up in a ball of flames.

I want to encourage all of you to get a copy of the May 2009 Limbaugh Letter which has a fantastic interview with Andrew Klavan, a Hollywood scriptwriter and novelist. He has written movie scripts and books that have been made into movies such as One Missed Call, Don't Say A Word (Michael Douglas), True Crime (Clint Eastwood), and A Shock To The System (Michael Caine).

Andrew Klavan is currently working on The Last Thing I Remember, a young adult novel that is very politically incorrect. Pre-publishing reviews have elicited responses from liberals such as "jingoistic paranoid" and "rah-rah patriot." Jeanine Garafalo would probably it "redneck racist."

The novel is about a kid who is abducted by an organization of Islamic terrorists and American traitors who sympathize with them. I can't wait to read it and I hope it is made into a movie by someone who isn't a liberal. I know, that really narrows down the choices but there are conservative movie makers out there.

Please America, let's support Andrew Klavan. It is people like him who have an opportunity to help turn this country around and get it off the road of self-destruction.

It's been a while since I have seen something so egregious that I felt like it deserved an RSSCM award. Now I have.

I used to like Chris Matthews just a little. Over the past 2-3 years he has managed to erase that like completely and replace it with disdain. He is nothing more than a mouthpiece for liberalism and because he is a smart guy, he is able to deceive those who are not aware of his political agenda.

Matthews, like many other liberals, has already forgotten September 11. He has forgotten the 3,000 innocent Americans who were ruthlessly murdered by Islamic terrorists. He has forgotten the real threats from Al Qaeda and Islamic countries that support these terrorists. His own political agenda and his hatred of Bush/Cheney are more important to him than the security of Americans.

Movie Review: Star Trek (No Spoilers)

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been a Star Trek fan since the original TV series in the 60's. Actually, I must have watched it in syndication because I wasn't old enough to remember the series during its original run.

I went to see Star Trek on opening night and it was incredible from beginning to end. Even though the actors were different, it was like being home and was very much like the original TV series but with much better special effects.

The new actors were quite good overall. I was especially pleased with the three main characters Chris Pine (James Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), and Karl Urban ("Bones", Dr. McCoy). I don't want to leave anyone out but I can't list everyone who did a good job. There were only a couple of people who didn't match the acting skills of the others but you can figure those out for yourself.

If you are a Star Trek fan, this is a must see. If you don't know anything about Star Trek, you won't be lost watching this movie and you'll enjoy every minute of it.

Oklahoma: I Wish Arkansas Was More Like You

Let me 'fess up right at the beginning. I'm a bred, born, raised, educated, and degreed Arkansas Razorback. Furthermore, I live in Arkansas approximately four miles from the Oklahoma border. My in-laws live about seven minutes away in Oklahoma and about 100 yards from the state line. By default I learned to dislike Okie's (my in-laws excluded). Now mind you, it had nothing to do with whether they were good people or not. It's just that they weren't Razorbacks.

Yes, I admit I have been prejudiced most of my life against Okie's. Not the people but their sports teams. I grew tired of hearing Okie's brag about their Sooners. While my Razorbacks were delivered a few thumpings by the Sooners over the years, I was able to take my vengeance out in the 1978 Orange Bowl. Oklahoma was heavily favored. Arkansas had three players, two very important starters, suspended for violating a team rule. Despite the odds being heavily stacked against us, we showed the Sooners how to play football that night and sent them packing 31-6. Okay, enough reminiscing.

From a political viewpoint, I envy the people of Oklahoma. They consistently produce better politicians and certainly better Republican politicians than Arkansas does. Even their Democrat politicians are moderate to slightly conservative. What is Arkansas famous for? Bill Clinton. Need I say more?

This week, the Oklahoma legislature pulled out all the stops. Keep in mind, Brad Henry is not that bad of a Democrat governor. But the Oklahoma legislature was none too happy when he vetoed their resolution to declare the state's sovereignty. So, they got together and passed another resolution by a large enough majority that Governor Henry has no say in it.

What is significant about this resolution? Nothing legally but it sends a message to Washington that the people of Oklahoma are tired of this out-of-control, unrelenting, unnecessary spending and growing federal government control. One legislator noted that the federal government frequently violates the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which states that powers not delegated to the federal government shall be reserved to the states.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.

If I ever move out of Arkansas it will be to Texas or Oklahoma. Boomer Sooner!

Movie Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (No Spoilers)

Look, I'm not a movie critic. I just know what I like and don't like. Being a fan of the X-Men trilogy I was excited about the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

While it wasn't a bad movie, I was somewhat disappointed. The cinematography left something to be desired as well as the special effects. Some of the CG was noticeably bad.

Hugh Jackman was a bright spot in this movie. He made you feel what Wolverine was feeling. I was pleasantly surprised by Taylor Kitsch who played Gambit/Remy LeBeau. We may see him in future X-Men films.

The script left too many loose ends. Also, it took too long to get into the "meat" of the story.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 6.

Does anyone else wonder like I do how Arlen Specter ever made it into the Republican Party? I'm starting to think maybe senility is setting in. I've listened to him over the past few days and he sounds like a Democrat. No wonder he switched parties.

There are two outrageously stupid comments Specter has made that I want to address.

Arlen Specter is having delusions of grandeur. He thinks he is the great Lord Messiah Barack Obama. On Deface The Nation yesterday Specter said if the Republican Party would have listened to him, he would have made sure Jack Kemp was alive today. That, my friends, is a typical Democrat exploitation. Jack Kemp hadn't even been gone for 24 hours before Specter was using it for his own political gain. What a jerk! I am so glad he's no longer in the GOP. He fits in much better with people like the Clintons, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, et al.

Lie #2. Specter said on Meet The Obama Press that "the Republican Party has gone far to the right since [he] joined it under Reagan's big tent." WRONG!! The Republican Party establishment has moved left with the Democratic Party. Americans are still right where they were - right-of-center. Sorry, I take that back. We ARE the center. The Dems listed above are far left.

Specter will make a good Democrat. I sincerely hope whoever his opponent is in 2010 just mops the floor with his Democrat ass.

GOP Big Tent Idea: Completely Useless

Most of us have realized the primary goal of politicians is to gain power or retain power. The American people are considered only to the point that they are useful in reaching the primary goal. This is true of politicians in all parties.

This political selfishness and lust for power breeds stupid ideas like the "big tent" of the GOP. This is nothing more than an attempt to maintain a wide base and gain or retain power. Most GOP politicians, leaders, and media subscribe to this useless idea.

Do I have a better suggestion? Yes.

First, the GOP loses more voters than it gains by trying to stand on both sides of "hot button" issues. This lack of conviction and integrity drives away voters who want to know what the candidate stands for and what their vote will mean.

Second, the majority of Americans are right-of-center politically. Most Americans still believe in the traditional American ideas of hard work, personal responsibility, and morality. When the GOP wants to be inclusive of people who do not subscribe to the same ideas they are only hurting themselves.

Ronald Reagan was not a "big tent" Republican - not to the extent that it required him to compromise his beliefs and principles. He didn't bring down Communism by being inclusive and tolerant. He didn't defeat his detractors by compromising. He did these things by being right!

So to all of the John McCains, the Michael Steeles, and the Peggy Noonans, wake up! You aren't building your base - you are destroying it. You are hammering it into rubble.

If the GOP is working to be just like the Democrats, why do we need two parties?

An Italian cruise ship was attacked Saturday by Somali pirates. This time, the pirates got a surprise. The cruise line hired an Israeli security team to protect the ship. Needless to say, one Israeli male has more kahunas than 10 men from any other country. Heck, an Israeli FEMALE has more kahunas than men from other countries.

As the Muslim Somali pirates approached the cruise ship, the Israeli security team returned fire and sprayed them with water hoses. The pirates retreated.

Cira Pinto, captain of the cruise ship said this:

After four or five minutes, they tried to put a ladder on the bow...when they saw we were shooting, they abandoned their effort and went away.

Ann, Your Mother's Eulogy Was Personal For Me

This post is dedicated to my grandmother who passed away August 17, 2008.

Unfortunately for us, there is only one Ann Coulter. Too many people in the media are conciliatory and politically correct. Not Ann. Despite her abrasive personality (abrasive to liberals and moderates), her recent mother's passing has shown us a very different Ann.

Ann, your mother's eulogy was wonderful and very personal for me. I was raised by my grandmother who took me into her care when I was six months old to give me a chance at a better life. While she was working class and always considered herself to be a Democrat, it was the strong moral foundation and sense of personal responsibility she taught me that made me the strong conservative I am today. Also to her credit, by the time Bill Clinton made it to the national scene, she was voting Republican.

It was the excerpt below from the eulogy that got to me. It was very personal for me. You see, I lost my grandmother last August quickly and unexpectedly. She was 91 years old but was in reasonably good health. A doctor's change in hypertension medication precipitated a hemorrhagic stroke within 24 hours. I never got to say 'goodbye'. I never got to say 'thank you'. Opportunities were there but I never took them.

And I'll never see my mother's beautiful face again, at least not for the next several decades here on Earth. I've been looking at her across the room in doctors' offices over the past few years, thinking to myself: There will come a point when you won't see that face again.

Her angelic face always looked like home to me. My whole life, as soon as I'd see my mother's face I'd know I was safe, whether I was a little girl lost in a department store or a big girl with a problem, who needed her mother.

If there is someone who has had a positive impact on your life, let them know now. You may not get another chance.

Miss California Should Have Won

When I was growing up my family used to watch the Miss America pageant every year. It was viewed as near the equivalent of the crowning of a queen. Now, it is a joke. Viewership has dropped considerably and one only needs to take a closer look to understand why.

I will probably catch some flak for this but it needs to be said. There are two basic types of Miss America contestants. There are the "airheads" who are all beauty and no brains. Then there are the intelligent beauties who offer a complete package.

Miss California Carrie Prejean may not be a candidate for the Mensa Society but at least she gave an honest, coherent answer to a question from a complete and total moron. Did her answer about gay marriage cost her the Miss America crown? It sure looks that way and that is the saddest part of all of this mess.

In response to a question about gay marriage from viciously gay pageant judge and all-around lowlife Perez Hilton, Miss California had this to say:

We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised.

What's wrong with that answer? It was honest. Don't we live in America where we have freedom to speak our minds? Isn't this nothing more than political correctness taken to a ridiculous level?

After the pageant was over, Perez Hilton had the unmitigated gall to bash Carrie Prejean and insult her with a profane name that I will not show here. In addition, he unrepentantly admitted that Miss Prejean lost the crown because of her "anti-gay" answer. Here's what he said:

She lost it because of that question. She was definitely the front-runner before that.

Even Co-director of the Miss CA USA pageant weighed in against Miss Prejean:

As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman...I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.

Dork. Then why did you allow the question to be asked?

Miss Prejean may choose the high road but she should consider a discrimination lawsuit. Despite what the pageant organizers allege, Miss Prejean was singled out for that question because she is a Christian. She was to be an example to future Miss America contestants to check her beliefs at the door if they are contrary to liberal ideology.

It did cost me my crown. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do. It is a very touchy subject and I see where [Hilton] was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.

Bravo, Miss Prejean. You did the right thing. You were the only one who was honest.

Tea Party, Hangin' Judge Style

I attended a local tea party this afternoon along with about 600 of my fellow overtaxed citizen brothers and sisters. This event was very poorly advertised so I was expecting to see about 150-200 people there.

There were quite a few speakers during the three hour event. Most talked about fiscal responsibility and overtaxation. However, as I walked around and spoke with the average Joe Citizens in the crowd, a recurring theme was taking shape. It may sound familiar to you. It should. It is from the Declaration of Independence.

BTW, this town is primarily known for hanging criminals - the home town of "The Hangin' Judge", Isaac C. Parker. The tea party was held on the grounds of the courthouse and gallows. You can see the old courthouse in the background of one of the photos above. I'm not implying anything. Just free, historical information.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Navy 4, Pirates 0

The United States Navy has sent a loud and clear message to pirates. "If you kidnap Americans, we will kill you." Now that is MY United States. I am having a very hard time believing Obama had anything to do with this. My guess is that he just stayed out of the way of the Navy and that is the best thing he could do.

One pirate was on the USS Bainbridge negotiating the release of Captain Phillips. Apparently, something went awry and one of the pirate captors stood up in the lifeboat where Captain Phillips was being held and pointed an AK-47 at him. This triggered an order for snipers to take out all three pirates on the lifeboat. All snipers fired simultaneously killing the three pirates. The fourth pirate who was on the USS Bainbridge was taken into custody. Captain Phillips was rescued.

Moral: The United States does not negotiate with terrorists.

Heroes Of The Day: Karl Rove And Ari Fleischer

It's really too bad that the average conservative or Republican can't unload on these morons in the media, in Congress, on federal court benches, and now in the White House. I could be referring to one of many morons in the White House but in this instance I am referring to the greatest of all administration morons, Joe Biden.

On Tuesday, Biden made the claim that he rebuked President Bush in the Oval Office regarding his leadership skills. Bush aides have denied that any such conversation ever took place. Of course, Biden has been unable or unwilling to provide a date that this alleged conversation took place.

This outrageous statement went completely unchallenged in the media until yesterday when Karl Rove, on Fox News, called Joe Biden a "serial exaggerator" and a "liar." Karl, thank you for saying what should be the overwhelming theme in the mainstream news but is instead, being completely ignored.

Next, MSNBC moron Peter Alexander questioned former Bush White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer about Rove's comments and asked him if it was good for the GOP or the Obama administration for Rove to make such comments. Fleischer had two good responses.

Well, frankly, my question is, where is the press in all of this? If Dick Cheney had said that he had a private meeting with Bill Clinton and he in that meeting told Bill Clinton that Bill Clinton was wrong, I think all the press would have said to Cheney, “When did you do it? Back it up. Where are the dates?” There's no scrutiny here for Joe Biden and that's why I wonder why the issue is what Karl said?

Then Alexander asks Fleischer if calling Biden a "liar" is over the top. This response from Fleischer is priceless.

Well, for heaven's sake, that's just about the only word Democrats wanted to use when they were talking about George W. Bush. If it was good enough for last eight years and people didn't question the tactic I don't know why they question it now...

Karl Rove gets an A for telling it like it is. Ari Fleischer gets an A+ for telling it like it is and rubbing it in the media's face.

Reagan To Blame For This Economy?

I know. It's one of the dumbest things you've ever heard. But that's what some people are saying. Some geriatric retired public school teacher lib regurgitated this foolishness in my local newspaper so, being a Reaganite, I felt compelled to respond. Here, for your reading pleasure, is my response.

In a recent letter Mr. Kesselring contended that Ronald Reagan is to blame for our current economic situation. Piffle. Poppycock. Balderdash.

Let us remember what this country was like after four years of the Jimmy Carter presidency. When Carter left office, the unemployment rate was 7.5 percent and the prime interest rate was 21.5 percent. After four years under Ronald Reagan, unemployment was 5.3 percent and the prime interest rate was 10.5 percent. Under Carter’s watch, 53 Americans were taken hostage and held for 444 days. The day Ronald Reagan took office those hostages were released.

During Reagan’s presidency, America experienced the greatest peacetime growth in history. You can rewrite history but you cannot change facts. When Reagan cut taxes, revenues rose and our economy began to recover.

Compare Jimmy Carter’s famous “malaise” speech with Ronald Reagan’s “It’s Morning In America Again” theme. Carter told us how much trouble America was in. Reagan told us how we had a bright future.

I am tired of socialists trying to change this country into a socialist state. If you want to live in a socialist country where the government has its controlling hand in everything, why don’t you move to one of the European Union countries? Things must be so much better there based on your assessment.

The current Democrat assault on the free market will crush business and when that happens, we will all be standing in line for the new socialist government to take care of us.

I don’t want the government to take money from someone else and give it to me. All I want is the opportunity to succeed on my own. If you don’t work hard in life to be successful, why is it someone else’s responsibility to make up the difference?

My newspaper limits letters to a 300-word max or I could have really unloaded on the guy. It's in my nature to always win one for the Gipper.

Are any of you old enough to remember the TV show "The Rookies"? I don't remember much about it but if it were remade today, Barack Obama could play the role of the black guy. I think the actor in the original series was Georg Stanford Brown.

Why doesn't Obama just tell the people of the UK that they are a bunch of stuffed-shirt, snooty, white people who he doesn't care for? And that he really doesn't know anything about England/The UK because he's never studied the foundations of America and where we came from. I would bet he knows more about Kenya than he does about the UK.

By the way Rookie, England is one member country of the UK. It is not the UK. The UK is not England. There are other countries that you dissed in your address to the peoples there, including the home land of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Hopefully he didn't hear you. Maybe he was off trying to figure out how to play those bargain bin Region 1 DVDs you gave him as a gift on his trip here.

Why is Barney Frank on my list today? Because of the absolute moronic, socialistic legislation he is trying to push onto this country.

Barney Elmer Fudd's "Pay for Performance Act of 2009" is the most overtly socialist thing I've heard from Washington since Obama won the White House competition. Barney Fudd wants the government to have control over and decide what ALL EMPLOYEES of companies that received bailout money should be paid. Can anyone else see what a travesty to freedom this is? What an attack on the American way of life is?

Barney Fudd should be impeached and any other moron that voted for this outrageous bill. All I have to say to the companies that came running to the government for a handout is, this is what you get. You make a deal with the devil and the devil makes the rules. Now you're all going to burn in government hell.

RSCCM Bronze Award: For those who slightly moronic, i.e., John McCain wanting to spend $300 billion to buy up mortgages from homeowners

RSCCM Silver Award: For those moments when someone is decidedly moronic, i.e., Chris Matthews saying that Obama sends a tingle up his leg

RSSCCM Gold Award: This is the coup de gras of moronism. This award is reserved for the utterly moronic. Examples are anything Al Gore says about global warming, anything Keith Olbermann says, and most of the things Jimmy Carter says, for whom this award was fashioned after.

You knew this was coming. I mean, how long could the President of the United Socialist States go without winning the most coveted award in all of liberalism?

It is not my job to study foreign policy. However, I know more than the entire Obama administration combined. I know who the President of Russia is and how to pronounce his name (take notes Hillary). And I know Region 1 DVD's are an insulting gift to give to a foreign head of state, especially the Prime Minister of Britain.

I also know who the President of France is. Obamadorks, listen up! His name is Nicolas Sarkozy. Not Jacques Chirac. Sarkozy has been in office for the past two years.

So, for sending a letter to Jacques Chirac pledging our friendship and cooperation, Barack Obama is awarded the RSCCM Award (Red State Conservative Certified Moron). Congratulations!

To Our British Cousins: We Apologize For Obama. Episode IV

Why doesn't Obama just tell Great Britain to take a flying leap? First, we insult them by returning the bust of Winston Churchill, a gift to our government. Then we insult them by not organizing a press conference for Prime Minister Gordon Brown's visit here, the first visit by a foreign head of state. Then we insult them by giving the Brown family the crappiest, cheapest gifts we could find.

Now it appears we are ignoring their phone calls. British Cabinet Secretary Sir Gus O'Donnell vented some frustration about the difficulty in trying to contact members of Obama's administration. It seems the calls go to voice mail or don't get answered at all.

To our cousins in Great Britain, once again we apologize for the ineptness and complete buffoonery that is going on in our government. This is what happens when you elect rookies to such important positions. Please bear with us for a few years and we'll correct this hideous error we've made. We have great respect and feel a special kinship with you.

There Is A Precedent For Wanting A President To Fail

Crawling from the recesses of "that is coming back to haunt me" file are a couple of polls where people were asked if they wanted President Bush and/or his policies to succeed. The results are not surprising among Democrat respondents.

In a 2006 Fox News poll (link to poll), more than half of Democrat respondents said they wanted President Bush to fail. Not a huge surprise there.

In a 2007 poll (link to poll) the question asked if the respondent wanted President Bush's troop surge in Iraq to succeed. More than 1/3 of the Democrat respondents said they wanted the troop surge to fail. That is somewhat surprising to me.

Even if I disagree with the president and his policies, I will always, always, always, support our military and pray for their success. This may seem somewhat harsh but people who do not support our military and wish for their failure do not deserve to be Americans. They should be exiled to a socialist country where they would be more comfortable.

Obama Overwhelmed?

If there was any doubt that Obama is a green, inexperienced rookie who is still wet behind the ears, this should take care of it. When questioned about why British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was dissed on his visit here, the Obama staff said the president is "overwhelmed."

Sit silently for about 15 seconds and think about that.

How do you feel now? Do you remember George W. Bush or his staff ever complaining that he was overwhelmed? And he had 9/11 to deal with!

Face it. Obama isn't qualified to be president. I'll say it again. Obama isn't qualified to be president. Many of us issued warnings about this prior to the election that were completely ignored. Now the day of reckoning has arrived. Time to pay the piper.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Hillary would have been a better choice than rookie Obama. The Kool-Aid media is propping him up but that will only last for so long. Another day of reckoning is on its way.

If Obama doesn't completely crash this plane (America) before 2010 we are complete fools if we allow the Democrats to retain power in Congress. We're even bigger fools if, in 2012, we don't put someone in the presidency that at least has a clue of how to run a country.

How can Obama not be overwhelmed? This is his first freakin' job which tells me he isn't running the show. That begs the question, "Who is?"

To The GOP: Are We Learning Anything?

The self-destruction of the GOP and the current upheaval within are eliciting some strange comments from both sides of the political spectrum. Some say this is the end of the GOP. Wrong. Some say it is a rebirthing. Maybe.

The crucial question for the GOP is, "Are we learning anything from our past failures?" Which begets the second question, "Will we make the right decisions to avoid those same failures in the future?"

Those are serious questions that need to be asked of every member of the GOP. Will we continue with the failed policies of the past or will we return to the policies and philosophies that made the party great?

The peak of GOP power came at times when conservatism ruled. Most recently it was during the Reagan years and the congressional years of the Contract With America. From there we lost our way.

Listen up GOP - CONSERVATISM WORKS. It is the ONLY way you are going to pull yourself out of this pit. If you ignore or minimize conservatism in this party, you will be responsible for its demise.

GOP: The Big Tent Idea Is Our Problem

GOP leadership (excluding Rush who is the real leader of the GOP :-P), you need to drop the whole "big tent" idea. I'm not saying we need to be exclusive. Not at all. The problem is where the big tent idea has led us.

We need to allow anyone and everyone who wants to be part of the Republican Party to do so. But there is a catch. Instead of amending our views to be inclusive and tolerant, every time someone joins with a different viewpoint on an issue, we need to educate them on our philosophy, our platform, and our positions. If they are unable to agree with the party on a particular issue and it is a litmus test for them, then they need to find another party to join.

A good friend of mine gave me this allegory in another situation where a small group of people were discontent about something. It applies to the current GOP as well. He said:

We are taking this plane to Denver. If you get on this plane you are going to Denver with us. If you want to go to Chicago, then you'll need to take another plane.

Wise words.

D.L. Hughley Has No Clue

Liberals have no idea what truth is or what it means - even in the mainstream media. Watching the mainstream networks and reading the mainstream publications has become a joke. You might as well go find a good fictional novel and read it.

D.L. Hughley fits the model above. He has no clue what he's talking about. He either mindlessly repeats something he has heard (like a myna bird) or he just makes it up. There is no truth in what he says.

Hughley said the Republican National Convention looked like Nazi Germany. What??? That is his distorted viewpoint. Remember, no truth. He also said blacks are not welcome in the Republican Party. Again, what??? The Republican Party has very few blacks because the Democrats have imprisoned them to their system. Lie after lie after lie has been told to make blacks think that Democrats will protect them from the "evil" Republicans and that Democrats will "fix" their problems.

Well, I have news for you. The Democrats have had ages and ages to fix those problems and that ain't been fixed yet, and they ain't gonna be. Who would vote for Democrats if they didn't have blacks, poor people, unions, gays, environmentalists, etc., under their control?

What I see, Mr. Hughley, is this. The Democratic Party is very much like Hitler's National Socialist German Workers' Party. On the surface it appears that the government is helping the people. But the truth is (something which you don't comprehend) everyone is nothing more than a slave to the government. How does it feel to be a slave Mr. Hughley? You may not see it and you may never see it but it is so clear.

There are blacks, Hispanics, whites, Asians, Native Americans, and others out there who understand that success and equality are not guaranteed. Success is an individual responsibility - your own. It is not my responsibility to see that someone else succeeds. For me to forcibly take your money to give it to someone else would be criminal. Those are fundamental differences between conservatives and liberals - not blacks and whites - not Asians and Hispanics.

If you want to succeed, get off your butt and do something about it. Don't expect someone else to hand it to you. Mr. Hughley, you did something about it. You could have stayed in your hometown and done something else. You could have worked at the local supermarket or the water department. You could have become a drug dealer but you didn't. You dreamed bigger. You wanted more. You worked your butt off and you made it. I applaud you for that. Why should Barack Obama or any other politician force you to share it with someone else? If you want to do it voluntarily, so be it. Again, I applaud you. But to have it stolen by the government and redistributed? That's not democracy. That's socialism.
